It would appear that spring has finally sprung. We praise God for the warmer weather and hopefully, for the coming rain. Spring brings us not only, the greening of the fields and flowers, but two amazing celebrations in the church of the Lord.
Easter and the often-lost celebration of Pentecost which this year is May 24th. All too often after Easter, people forget that Jesus stuck around for a while. For six weeks He came to the disciples and those in the Upper Room and shared with them what they needed to keep this new faith growing.
At the end of Luke (24:49), Jesus tells the disciples that He will send to them what the Father has promised. Jesus then instructs them to stay in Jerusalem until they have been clothed with power from on high. This would be the full measure of the Holy Spirit that is to come.
Spring is the time when the land seems to be renewed and it is also a great time for our faith to be renewed as we celebrate the tomb being rolled away and Christ being resurrected as well as the new church started by Christ coming to fruition. Without that day of Pentecost, church here would look a lot different.
